2nd Years sit the DIT Tailoring Examination

Wow, it's been a very eventful few days requiring much effort and prayer.

So often in Uganda things are not as well organised as we might wish. Jefferson, our Site Manager had a text message on Friday from the Directorate of Industrial Training in Kampala to go and collect the details for the exam due to take place on Tuesday!

As you can imagine this caused much distress, all the more so as no one was in the Government office until the Monday morning. There was no time to get to Kampala and back with all that would need to be purchased. The telephone lines were red hot and many emails, Skype calls and a lot of running around later all was sorted.

JB managed to buy all the necessary items for the 6 hour practical exam and the staff on site prepared the room, moving furniture and sewing machines into place. Of course all the students had to be notified too as no one had any idea that this was to happen this week!

It was a big team effort to get everything sorted in time but everyone was great and worked really hard.

When the Invigilators arrived with the Theory papers on the Tuesday morning there was much relief and they could all settle down, staff and teachers in nervous exhaustion and students to concentrate on doing their best.

Yesterday, Wednesday, the students sat the Practical exam, 6 hours is a long time but they were allowed to stop for lunch, as a treat we provided lunch which our Cooking Ladies cooked. All too often they don't get anything at all to eat until evening so today it was very important that their energy levels were kept high.

Now we must all wait until next Spring for the results which we pray will be excellent and reward them all for the hard work they have done over the past 2 years.
