WALKWATER – 29th March 2025

A group of TEAMS supporters will be walking the “Sid Valley Ring” in East Devon on Saturday 29th March in an effort to raise money to provide a borehole in the remote village of CooPee in northern Uganda.

CooPee has about 200 residents but the nearest drinking water is 2 miles from the village.  A long hard and time-consuming task for something that we in the UK take for granted when we simply turn on our taps.

Easy access to clean drinking is a life-essential that all human beings should have.

TEAMS has some land in CooPee which it allows the villagers to farm and we now want to help them further by providing a clean source of water in the heart of their community.

£6,000 is needed to drill a borehole and to kickstart this appeal, we are –

Burns Night Celebrations for TEAMS

Scotland’s national poet, Robert Burns, who died in 1796 is celebrated around the world on 25th January each year.

With two of TEAMS UK Trustee’s being of Scottish descent it was decided to mark the occasion by holding a traditional Scottish 3 course meal followed by a Ceilidh.  Planned as a fund-raiser for TEAMS, we were delighted the event became a sell out and a total of £1,000 was raised for the work of TEAMS.

Many kilts and much tartan were in evidence, Piper Peter Neusinger, piped in the Haggis which was formally addressed by Revd Bruce Thomson.  The Selkirk Grace with some additions was said and David Glennie and Bruce Thomson read some Burn’s poetry.

Jane and Rosalind made the soup and cranachan desert while the delicious haggis, neeps, tatties and greens were cooked for us by Astridges catering of Topsham.

Chas and the fabulous kitchen helpers were amazing serving and clearing away – thank you all!

The Otter Vale folk Band played for us and caller Sarah got us all dancing (to burn off the calories consumed from the meal!)

A successful raffle (with prizes donated by many businesses in Sidmouth) was held and Pat Beesley made a cute Scottish Gonk, the name for which had to be guessed during the evening which raised over £100! His name turned out to be Lachlan!

This was truly a team event with more than a dozen people closely involved in the planning and implementation of what proved to be a most enjoyable and successful evening.

Our thanks to all involved and to those who bought tickets and helped us raise such a grand total!

Same again next year???
