Uganda 2013 - The launch of the mission

The count down begins!!!  As I write this blog, there are just 2 days, 23 hours and 57 minutes left till the 1st September.  This is where, most of team Uganda 2013, will be en-route to London Heathrow terminal 5!! Armed with 483kg of luggage, 3.5 litres of mosquito spray and hopefully 7 umbrellas at the ready to meet the Uganda rainy season!

Let me introduce the team: Steering us in the right direction and making sure that us “newbie missionaries” are safe, is Rachel Cooper – TEAMS Children Coordinator and administrator. Having been to Uganda before, she will most definitely be praying for us in preparation!  The rest of the ladies…Hannah Jarrett – who has practically helped me prepare, by purchasing a much needed deet mossi spray!  Thank you Jarrett! The ever joyful Kate Kimona and myself (Stephanie Anyan reporting for duty!)

Now the gents… Amit Dattani, Michael Comissiong and Sydney Williams. They will be definitely sharing their personal reflections on the events to come. So watch this space!!

PREPARATION is definitely not lost time!  As a team, we have been doing lots of it since 2012, and WOW, the time has flown by to just a few days and hours left!  We’re all meeting tonight (Thursday 29th August 2013) for the last time at the TEAMS, Hendon headquarters, to tie up the last practical, spiritual and physical details.  Also we’ll be saying our farewell to Ojali and Liam who will be flying out later on the 5th September to join us – actually, Liam will be waving us off on Sunday, ensuring we’re all present and intact!

My thoughts at this point are – “I wonder how the others are preparing?” …
