What a day!
Being a Sunday, this was ‘church’ day. Team members visited and ministered in different churches. New experiences and opportunities for most, and overwhelmingly impactful. For me, it was TEAMS Church at Layibi, The Sanctuary. And what a joy to see 9 of the people who came to faith in the community evangelism yesterday (out of 15 – that’s 60%), coming to the church today. One man, came with his believing wife, and what a joy it must of been for her to see her ‘unsaved’ husband come to faith and join her in church. This is the cry of many believing wives, married to unbelieving husbands – it can happen! With a baby wrapped around her back, I asked them to join hands and I prayed for them as a family ‘under God’ for the first time in their lives.
One young lady who came to faith, following the prayer of commitment to Christ, promptly fell to floor with clear evidence of demon possession. In response to ‘the blood’ and prayer she was released and it was wonderful to see her come to instant stillness and peace as she entered into her freedom. She immediately desired to be baptised in water after rising and settling herself! We did indeed baptise a young man called Sam who has been a staff member of TEAMS for many years. The water was filthy from yesterday’s baptism of 76 people – but he was determined to go full immersion anyway!
There was a deepening sense of what God is doing in the church and community and this was evident as we held our children’s fun day in the afternoon with 150-200 children coming from the local area around the church.
Onwards and Upwards!
