Dan and I expected an avalanche with little reprieve when the UK mission team arrived one week ago (sorry – us Aussies are blunt!) This is our ninth month living in Gulu and after saying goodbye to our last mission team two months ago, still tired and weary, we were hoping to ride out this storm and look forward to the rest that lay beyond their departure.
However, within the busyness, we have been totally blessed and blown away by this team! Members of this team have been extremely insightful, speaking words of encouragement deep into our hearts – we have been blessed by them not only spiritually, but in so many other ways! Just sitting around a table, playing a board game and cracking jokes at each other’s expense has been wonderful medicine for us (surprisingly for some to believe perhaps).
Life hasn’t slowed down, but in this rollercoaster mission fortnight (anyone who knows Dr Liam Chapman knows that mission moves as quick as he speaks): there has been a real renewing, re-energising and refocusing for us – thanks team!
The UK team members may remember the children’s evangelism days, the baptisms, the different food and toilet experiences; however we will remember the prayer sessions, the laughter, the tears, the sharing of intimate details (which scarily I am sure some of them could ‘read’ from our hearts) the games, and arguing over whose rules are correct J
Thanks Sydney, Mike, Amit, Kate, Ojali, Hannah, Liam, Steph and Rach – you guys rock!
