Handing over the loan machine

Winifred is the latest of our Agape Orphans to finish TEAMS programme of support. Now 18, she recently finished her tailoring course at St Monica’s Tailoring School in Gulu and wishes to start a micro business making garments to sell in the market. Winifred lives with her “Auntie” who kindly agreed to allow her to house a sewing machine in her home.

We decided to offer Winifred a free loan of a Singer Treadle Sewing Machine for 12 months to kick start her business. If she is successful, she can buy the machine from us at a heavily discounted price. Winifred was delighted to be given such support since a sewing machine of this type costs 3 months wages and would have been beyond her capability before she has established herself.

The picture shows the compound where Winifred lives and in the picture are (from left to right), Winifred, John Bosco TEAMS sewing teacher, Winifred’s “Auntie” and lastly Alfred, who is our Agape programme controller (himself formerly one of TEAMS Agape charges).
